Sadly, we have had a loss in our family. My 2002 Windstar, which has served me these many years and over many miles, died suddenly yesterday. The drivetrain blew, sending shards of metal through the transmission. Our mechanic said it was a quick, painless, and instant death.
There was nothing anyone could have done.
My faithful minivan, veteran of three Girl Scout troops and numerous cookie drives, will be missed.
Fair thee well on your journey on the Great Highway in the Sky, my faithful steed. May your road be smooth, the weather mild, and your occupants kind. You meet your maker, Henry Ford, with the doggie nose art and accumulated detritus of your family still with you. Wear the scars of your battles with curbs proudly. You earned them.
Goodbye, my car, goodbye. May you rest in pieces.
